Most doctors will only do a stress test if the baby becomes less active and they feel that the baby may be under stress. It's not usually a routine test that they perform unless there is concern.

Normally a stress test is only done if they think there's a need for it. I just had one at 36 weeks, but only because I had been sick for a week and just didn't look all too well. Whatever effects you goes to the baby so that's why they did it. You can ask for one if you want, or your doctor may even suggest one. It depnds on the practice and if there's a need.

Good luck!

Unless there is decreased movement they prob wont. My wife went in for one and when they did ultra sound baby's thumper was down to like 65-75 beats per minute so they rush her up for a emergency c-section only to find out that the baby's beat was so low because she was lying on her back during the ultrasound and was cutting off blood flow to baby. Stupid doctors! Anyway i guess there is a reason you are supposed to sleep on your side while preggo.

I don't think they do a stress test unless they think it's nessecary for the baby. I'm 38 wks on Friday, and the only reason I'm getting one is because my doctor will be on vacation during my 39th week. Good luck.

It won't be done unless its necessary. If it is like my doctor it will not be done.I had a non-stess test when i thought i was going into labor but i didn't need it. many of those test are unnecessary.

Here's my advice to you: when you go into labor, don't panic!!
I breathed in and out slowly thru my nose and timed each contraction. they tell you to breath in thru your nose and out thru you mouth but concentrating on anything is painful. I was in labor from 10:45 pm to 1:22pm the next day and I was able to handle the contractions. Just remain calm at all times and keep calming people around you!!
