of course they can fire you, you signed a contract stating you could do 40hrs a week. An application form means nothing, you must look at your contract and find out how many hours you are contracted for.
As you were already pregnant when you got the job, it's different to becoming pregnant while your on the job.

It depends on the laws of your state. If you're in a 'right to work' state, you can be fired at any time for any reason. If you're in a 'probationary period' on your job (most jobs, it's 90 days), then you can be terminated during that time and all the employer has to say is it just wasn't going to work out and they need someone who fits the position better. Check out the employment laws of your state. You should be able to call the state's department of labor to get the details.

They can't fire you for being pregnant. But they can do other very "legal" things to mess with you. If you just found out you are pregnant you should wait to tell them. If you have a normal pregnancy you will not be uncomfortable until abou 5-6 months. Unless you have morning sickness. I would just stick it out. Don't tell until you have to.

if you are diabled and your doctor says you have to cut your hours because of it and you are in the USA , I think that would be a violation of the Americans with Disabilities law. If you are in the USA, look in your phone book for an organization that is called DORS (Department of Rehab Services) They may be able to ansswer your question. Or ask them to refer you to an agency that is called a CIL (center for ijndependent living) they are a non-residental information and referral service for people with disabilities, they are not places to live!)

its ok, its normal, dont panic. u just have to approach her wid ur genuine reason. by law and medical grounds, ur employer is obliged to shorten ur working hours. also under humanitarian grounds.remember, first trimester is very crucial, u need plenty of rest. i think de nature of ur job doesnt seem dat good..by the way, u did ask for 20-29 hours already..

No, they can't fire you, but be prepared to get the crappy hours. That's how it happens in retail..the part-time people get whatever hours are leftover from the full timers.

Technically, she can give you an unpaid leave if she is not able to make the accomodation of your hours. I would give her the note, explain that you want to work and ask her to make a medical accomodation.
