When I want to make an account on a korean website, they always ask for your social security number.... Why do they ask for it??

Because they want to try and steal your identity.

No website should ask for your SS number, if they do, they are a fraud website.

Because they want your identity. Don't ever give out your social security number to anyone unless it is the Social Security Administration, the IRS or your employer. Tell everyone else who asks for it that you will see that they get a $1200 Federal fine because it is illegal for anyone to demand your social security number as a form of identity or for any other purpose than collecting social security taxes or paying social security benefits. There is a federal statute. I usually carry it around with me but I haven't had to use that law for a long time now.

Never give out your social security number to anyone.

Please don't make and account to them.I think there are going to rip you off.Never ever give any anybody your ssi number.This is some very great advice.
