advice on how to get a small private company of double glazing to replace bad quality products??

You need to see if they are a member of FENSA, they are the trading organisation that covers double glazing companies.
If not then you can report them to trading standards and/or take out a small claims proceeding with your local county court for the cost of replacing there sub standard products.

If you have a Better Business Bureau notify them. Same if you have a Chamber of Commerce. Some states has a consumer advocate of some source, look on the internet.

Complaining is not going to bother that guy. You need to consider small claims court.
