If you go into any supermarket or pharmacy and see rows of acne curing products all claiming to give quick results within a short amount of time. However, most of the time these products simply do not work.
Heres a list of things you can try to use to prevent your acne from flaring up:

-Always Remove Any Make-up You Are Wearing At Night.
It will clog up your pores, leaving your skin looking dull, as well as encourage the acne to flare up.
-Try to have balanced diet and avoid "junk" food.
- Avoid the use of comedogenic products.
-Your pillow case accumulates dirt, so it is a good idea to change it quite regularly.
-It is a good idea to have a deep-clean facial periodically, which will clean your pores thoroughly.

I had the same problem you do, until I found the right foundation which worked for me. I've tried Neutrogena Healthy Skin Defense as well, and it didn't work for me either. I just bought Maybelline's Dream Matte Mousse (sound cheap? trust me, it's a great steal) and I've been using this product for under two weeks now. It's really light and airy (so much so, you don't even feel you have anything on your face), it does not clog pores, it provides sheer but buildable coverage (or you can you another concealer), and I don't know about this, but for me, I can actually see some of my scars lightening. I had huge breakouts about three weeks ago, and you know how long the scars last! Since I haven't changed anything else in my routine (I maintain a healthy skin care routine and a healthy diet, drink good amounts of water, and keep everything from hair to hands away from my face), so I'm attributing the change to this foundation. Hope that helps :)

While I LOVE MAC eyeshadows, lipsticks, and liners I would not advise using their foundation or powder products because they are comedogenic and tend to clogs pores easily.

Your best bet is using a light tinted moisturizer (with SPF!) with maybe a translucent powder, so that you aren't putting too much product on your skin.

i used bare minerals for a long time to and i have found that is makes my face oily/ shiny. i also have big pores. i use a foundation called mabeline, dream mouse? you may of heard of it it is cheap and it feels so natural. at first i was scared to buy it because of it mabey causing more oil, but it didnt for me! you should also try Clinque's makeup, the best makeup to feel natural and help with breakouts. but for coverage use the mouse :)

Do NOT use MaryKay!!!!! We use it for choir and it makes EVERYONE break out !!!!!!! Use a lightweight, waterbased foundation like Clinique. OIL FREE. You can also use an oil free pore minimizer from Clinique or Biore.
