Some say a sign is her manner of dress, if she's tomboyish or not. But that isnt always the case. I know plenty of tomboys who arent lesbians. BUT it might be a good indicator if you're around an area with a large concentration of gays & lesbians. No one assumes im a lesbian at first glance because im really feminine so when they find out, their mouths drop. Its priceless. lol. So there really arent any sure fire ways to tell a lesbian just off appearance becuz u could be just stereotyping. So....if u arent comfortable just asking, try getting to know her as a friend first. And then maybe she'll feel comfortable enough to let u know.

There is no real way to know for sure without asking. Most people wont have a problem with the question because it is sometimes hard to tell and thats the way it should be. We are all people and need to be treated the same.
If you spend enough time with the person then eventually you will just know, even if they dont know yet :)

I knew a professor in college who didn't surprise me to find out she was gay. Guess it was the short hair and not-quite-feminine looks. However, her lover was a big surprise, as she was an extremely hot and feminine woman who worked in the Admissions office. I saw them holding hands and picking out groceries at a local store one day. Needless to say, I didn't see that coming.
But you really can't judge a book by it's cover. One of my closests friends just admitted to me he is gay. I had a small suspicion, but I know he's been with women. Guess it just didn't take.
In the end, if you wanna know you have to ask.

I cannot tell.
Although sometimes, with some women (and some men), I get a sense that their interests lie in other areas.
But that is a sense, and not rooted in fact.
However, more times than not, my sense is generally correct.
Maybe because I read in certain body language, eye contact, mannerisms and figures of speech before I make that connection.

The best way to learn any information is from verbal communication, ie ask the question.
