I have been reading all the previous questions about installing a bathroom fan with a vent that only opens when the bathroom fan is running. However, no one giving an answer mentions the name of a specific manufacterer/model number and I can not find a one using Yahoo search. My local versions of the two nationally-known hardware stores are very limited and very unhelpful with this question.

Most "fart fan" installations use a flapper type cover on the outlet damper to "close" the vent line when it's not in use. This arrangement seems to work for 99% of the population and is much cheaper then any you would get with an actuated damper. I do not know of a common manufacturer of a fan with a motorized damper arrangement. Otherwise, one fart fan is about as good as another, just pick the capacity you want and the amount of noise you can put up with.

I am assuming you mean a vent that has an electrically operated damper, rather than the standard plastic flapper that opens under fan pressure?

If so, I've never seen one for residential use. And as expensive as electric furnace flue dampers are (which would be a similar device), I would question a big market for such. I Googled for this anyway, but did not see one to recommend for you.
