protein that will give you energy for a while, like eggs or peanut butter on whole wheat. My induction began on Tuesday at six, on Wednesday at six my doc let me eat (against the nurses' wishes), and my baby was born by emergency c-section LATE Thursday night!! then they kept me on 'light & bland' all day Friday, so I didn't get real food until Saturday!

You may even want to throw some nuts or something in your hospital bag. You may need it for energy!!

I can't remember what I ate for breakfast the morning of my induction. I would recommend a healthy breakfast though... whole grain toast and butter, yogurt, eggs or something hearty. you'll need it. That's the interesting thing... my non-induced babies came in the middle of the night and I didn't eat a thing until after the birth (quick births though).

I hope you go into labor before your induction! good luck.

I had an induction appt made for 41w and1d and I had my baby at 40w 4d If you are not having any kind of complications or anything, I would walk alot and you will more than likely have your baby on your own. So what if you go a couple days over. I had a really short and quick labor and I didn't want to be induced and have to sit in the hospital all day and wait.
Sorry that didn't really answer your question.

you will arrive and that they're going to get you gowned and positioned an IV in. they're going to initiate the pitocin and you're off! Pitocin in many circumstances would not take very long to kick in, and to no longer scare you, yet to be arranged, once you first get some "starter" contractions, initiate your rest and respiration techniques (optimistically you have been engaged on those.) The contractions get going quickly and robust exceptionally quickly. via fact which you're already 4 cm and 80%, it in all likelihood should not be very long in any respect. I easily have been precipitated thrice (no longer via determination for all 3) and replaced into 5cm and ninety% effaced with my final once I went in. Went in and had my daughter 4 hours later. ultimate desires and a healthy exertions/start and toddler!

Oh boy. I'd eat everything you can get down! You don't know how long labor will take. I went to the hospital at noon on a Sunday. I didn't deliver until 1pm on Monday. That's 13 hours without anything. You will be utterly exhausted.

With that said, my rational mind says fiber, fruit, protein and calcium. How about a bowl of oatmeal at home and a big fruit smoothie for the road.

labor may take all day, and they don't let you eat anything but ice chips, so eat whatever you want depending on how hungry you are. I was told the same myth about eating also by my doctor. I was given cervidon to make my cervix open and then pitocin to make my labor start again. 12 hours later when I finally delivered I was glad I hadn't listened! Good Luck!

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I never got sick from the induction drugs. You won't be able to eat once they start, though, so make sure you do eat first.

i was too nervous to eat and that was good because during labor i got to nauseous (vomiting)...if you have to eat something then eat something really plain like toast or so...
Good luck!
