Im going to california for vaca. And good ideas for a family and cousin trip. two 40 yr old parents, three 14 yr olds and a 7 yr old.?

I've been living in the S.F. bay area for 3 yrs. It depends if you'll be in northern or southern Cal. Its a big state!
If northern california, theres wine country in Napa or Sonoma. Lake Tahoe is beautiful and you can get in some gambling as well as the sights. San Francisco is always an interesting town. You could also go to Yosemite Nat'l Park or see the Redwood Forest.
If SoCal you could go to San Diego, see the zoo and maybe take a side trip across the border to Tiajuana.
L.A. is a fun town. Disneyland and host of other amusement parks are there. You can go to Hollywood and take a studio lot tour. La Brea tar pools. Or shop your heart out.

Universal Studios Tour and City for entertainment/all ages.
Camp on the beach. Lots of beaches have campgrounds and there is nothing like hanging out at the beach in front of a campfire and watching the waves come in.
Sequoia National Park, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe. Take the paddleboat dinner ride on Lake Tahoe for a great meal, great view of the lake and surrounding areas, ghost stories at sunset, and dancing!
