I absolutely agree with you, and I'm old! I get really upset when I see people cut ahead of teens at registers or at buffets, or when they've waited in line only to be ignored. Many store clerks treat them like they're either shoplifters, or not real customers (although the last time I watched the teens were spending real money). Some teachers are so burned out that they don't get to know the kids they teach -- it's just another class, never mind that one teen might have a great insight to share about abortion, and another teen might have the soul of a great poet.

Just like someone who lived through the Korean and Vietnam war might see the Iraq war through one perspective, teens view the same war through the perspective of their current experiences. Both are equally valid, and both people should be learning from each othe -- not discounting or devaluing each other. Respectful debate is good!

I think you should continue making this point to everyone you meet, and maybe you might wake some people up. And someday you'll be the adult, who will be giving some teen a chance to express himself or herself and learn from it!

I agree you should debate. But, make sure you do your research before debating to get correct facts or else you might look immature.
Adults consider 14-16 year olds "adults in training"
That's why you are not treated seriously. Usually teens are not in tune with the world's problems, usually teens are into themselves and the opposite sex.
To show adults you are mature, have your facts ready, and go for it.

Because we WERE 14 - 16 once... Do you take 5 and 6 year olds seriously? Of course you have opinions; opinions are like rear ends - everyone has one and most stink. You DON'T know what's going on.

You're right you should have the right to debate the serious topics you mentioned. I guess too many adults have written off teenagers as self proclaimed know it alls who think they have all of the answers. Remember to weigh both sides in a debate!

cuz adults, for the most part, don't take anybody seriously, most (not all) are self righteous pricks.

take a look at the world of politics for example.

there are the few exceptions that, in their own little ways, bring themselves beyond that and make the world a better place. Einstein, Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr. for example.

At that age, you still aren't thinking for yourself, you are mearly repeating things you have heard from people you are strongly influenced by (parents, friends, media) the fact that you haven't gone out and found the information yourself and than made a informed opinion about it will lead me to not take your opinions seriously.

That is good question.
I wish they did take us seriously, we aren't retarded.
Normally, I debate with adults, and prove them wrong in the process. hehehe. It's so much fun.
Why don't adults ever admit to being wrong? (well, I have yet to meet one that has..)

Debate them amongst yourselves. But no one wants to enter into a battle of wits with an unarmed person.

i understand what you mean but some adults think because your children you don't know anything.they think because they have been around longer that they know everything.and if they think that you are immature that doesn't help.act your age but also be mature about it maybe that will help a little bit.i really hope this helps you.
