I took a pregnancy test the othr day after my period was a week late. It was positive, I haven't gone to the doctor yet, but today I had some light bron spotting. What does that mean? I was reading on the internet and in some cases it's normal and in others they say it could be an early sign of a miscarriage. What does anyone think.??

About 30% of all pregnant women bleed in the first trimester. Of those, about 50% go on to miscarry. Of that 50% all have low HCG levels and no fetal heartbeat. I myself had spotting at 5 weeks 4days then again at 9 weeks. Both times I went to the Dr. Had blood tests and ultrasounds. Both times my HCG levels came back good and there was a heartbeat. I was told that some women just bleed. Both times I had no cramps and it was not enough blood to even wear a pad. So, being that it can be a sign of miscarriage I would definitely go to the OBGYN..... If for nothing else to ease your mind! I'm 11 weeks now and all is well, so it may be nothing at all! Best wishes!

I also had brown spotting at 6 weeks pregnant and was quite worried. I spotted for about 2 days and then 1 more day a few weeks later. Brown spotting isn't quite as concerning as red - I spoke to my doctor about it at 10 weeks and she just asked me to keep her informed of any changes and reassured me it can be quite normal for many women within pregnancy.

If you are experiencing cramps though along with spotting or if the color changes (brown -> red) or increases, head to the doctor/ER/walk-in-clinic as it could be a miscarriage.

As you haven't been to the doctor yet, I would also suggest going and arranging some early prenatal care and pregnancy confirmation. I saw my Dr at 5 weeks (for pregnancy confirmation) and at 10 weeks she started to provide the standard prenatal appointments.

IN my case, it was perfectly normal (happened throughout my first trimester when my normal periods were due. I went to the Gp and had early ultrasound scans at 5, 7 and 10 weeks before the routine one at 12 weeks. Yes it can be a sign of a miscarriage, but it can also be perfectly normal. Don't sit at home panicking - make an appointment with your GP!

I did the same thing at 5 weeks pregnate, I only spotted for a few hours in the middle of the night once. But once I seen the doctor she did a sonogram and everything was fine, it was just my body flushing out those last few unneeded things... I am now 8 weeks prego. and am still fine and have had no more spotting.
Good Luck to you and it would be best to see your doctor as soon as possible.

I had that in the beginning of my pregnancy and the doctor told me that it can be normal, not always but can be. Just try to relax and dont stress or do too much, and you should be fine. I am 8 months pregnant and everything has turned out really good. Good luck!

Could be implantation bleeding but it would'nt hurt to give your doctor a call and explain whats going on. As long as you dont have bright red blood with big clots and very bad cramping, you should be fine. Congrats & Good luck!!

It might just be your regular Period. Some Woman do bleed every 4th week of pregnancy (because that's when they would have had their periods)
Best of Luck to You and Your Baby!!!

dont worry i have had this happen to me twice, they say that it can happen when the pregnancy is implanting.the second time it happend to me they done a very early scan which involves inserting a probe with a cover on such as a condom inside you to get an image ,all you an see is a heart beat, and that will put your mind at rest.

Brown blood is considered old blood. Many women will have some brown or red spotting and still carry their baby to term, but sometimes it is a sign of pending miscarriage.

Lots of "sticky baby" thoughts for you!
