It depends on how long of a period of time they are worn. Heavy earrings worn over extended periods of time can produce what is known as the 'cheesecutter effect' in which the earring gradually pulls through the skin until it exits the lobe on the bottom and makes a slit through the lobe. This usually happens when the earring is a small gauge (diameter of the post) size.

depends on how heavy they are. eventually they will harm your ears. they will rip because if you look in the mirror with the earrings on, then you will see your hole is streatching down. so if you love a pair of heavy earrings, they only to wear them for a really short time, like an hour or two, or just dont wear them at all.

they dont really harm your ears altough after a couple of years of wereing them your ear lob will start to sag and thats not atractive at all

well they can make ur ears sore, which isnt good
especially when u sleep and u lay on ur ear, ouch!
