Ask these people. They have the power to say yes or no. http://www.barcouncil.org.uk/document.asp?documentid=12&languageid=1

If I may say so, you are going about this in a very roundabout way! Most legal executives wanting to move on become solicitors -- it is a more logical step and there are far more employment opportunities.

You've a real uphill battle. So far as I know to become a barrister you have to have a law degree (or another degree + a conversion course), and then undertake the BVC before doing a year's pupillage. The requirement for a degree is pretty much set in stone. For the year of conversion and BVC you can expect to pay a total of at least about £15,000 plus your maintenance.

Qualified solicitors can transfer to the bar by simply taking the Aptitude Test (£1,200 plus a couple of weekends) then doing a year's pupillage.

Which you choose depends on what your end goal is. If you don't have a degree, and please check with the bar council to see if you can get round this, then continuing your Ilex route, becoming a Fellow, becoming a solicitor, then becoming a barrister may still take years but at least you'll always be in employment. You may also wish to carry on down this route because you may find you like being a FIlex or Solicitor and don't want to change.

See the site below for more details, it's provided by the Bar Council.

This is an ambitious goal but unfortunately not one you're going to reach easily, quickly, or cheaply.
