At the YMCA locker room, I see many fathers and sons come in together. Many of the fathers strip naked and go into the showers in front of their sons and the other young males, but others do not. I have seen a few fathers who send their sons out to the lobby before undressing and showering. The mesage they are sending to their sons seems obvious: "Other boys may see me naked, but you may not!" I wonder what the rationale is for these men as to why it is "wrong" for their own sons to see them naked, but not for other boys of the same age.

Nudity is something you should not be ashamed of, it is completely natural

Nothing wrong with nudity, it's just a matter of the attitude in your home when you were growing up. Some are comfortable with it, some aren't, and some are really uncomfortable with it. The family thing is the bonding mechanism kicking in, the psychological "fail safe" that keeps us from being attracted to family members. In most cases, it just blocks out the feelings and images, and in some it causes extreme aversion, and in others, it hardly has any affect. It's all a normal range of attitude and behavior. No big deal, to each his own.

I'm can't "see" any problem while a son see his father in nude.
U can't consider nude as porn in mind.By the way,I'm don't think nude will cost any problem with this matter.Is very natural people having shower in naked.What U need for the advise is think "clean" in the mind.It help!

The question is WHY would the sons want to see thier dads naked in the first place?? I think my brother would throw up. But hey..to each his own.

I think it is healthy for the boys to see their dads nude. It is the only way they will learn boundaries and when they get to gym class in school or get into athletics, they will not be nearly as self-conscious or scared to be nude for the showers and getting dressed etc..

Of course, I've been to many nudist clubs and venues for years with my kids and other people's kids. It's natural and a good thing.
