This will be the most useful information you may ever possess…

How to find free high-resolution images.

Method 1: A Plethora Stock Photography Sites
Go to: http://www.gdusa.com/ (Graphic Design USA). Then click on the ”Links” button. Then click on the ”Stock Images” button. Here you will find a list of about 20 or more stock photography sites. Not all of them are free. However, on some of them you can download high-resolution comps for as little as $1. My favorite example of this is: http://www.istockphoto.com/ Regardless these websites will prove to be very valuable to you when trying to find photography of any sort. Just explore them and see what they have to offer.

Method 2: Old Faithful
Go to: http://www.google.com/ Click on the blue underlined word ”Images” Type in what you want to search for and click the ”Search Images” button. On the top left you will see the ”Images Showing:” drop down menu. Choose the ”Large images” options and you are magically left with only high-resolution images of what you are searching for!

Method 3: Old Fashioned
Go to your local library. (Ahhhhhhhh! Not the library!) Yes, the library. And ask the librarian to show you where the oversized book section is. A lot of really big books are really big because they have photography and art in them. Type a search into the computer for what you are looking for and then write some of the call numbers down. Don't search for that specific book but rather go to that general area in the oversized book section. Start pulling books of the shelf (remember where they went so you can put them back properly!) thumbing through the pages and if you find something that is useful book mark it. Then you can take the pages to the scanning station and usually someone working in the library can show you how to use it.

Disclaimer:
Most stock image websites use a disclaimer to warn patrons about how the stock photography is supposed to be used.

iStockphoto says: ”The Materials (ie images on the website) may only be used and copied for your own, non-commercial, personal or educational purposes, provided that the Materials are not modified and that copyright and other intellectual property notices are not deleted. You may not create derivative works from or otherwise exploit the Materials in any way."

Basically what this means is you are not supposed to use someone else's stuff with out their permission or paying for it. Duh! So it is ok to use it for your own personal use but don’t try and take someone's photography and make an ad to sell a product with out proper authority.

Good Luck with your search!

Try these? I'm not sure about the label...something to do with copyright? Some of these may be ok...you can always ask permission too.

www.imageafter.com

This is a useful site for stock photos. Depending on the subject matter you are looking for, I've often found that taking my own photo is better.

UNLESS THIS IS A TRICK QUESTION OR YOU'RE NEW TO THE NET OR SOMETHING THE BEST HONESTLY I COULD TELL YOU IS TO GO TO A SEARCH ENGINE AND TYPE IN WHATEVER KIND OF PORTRAIT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AND PRESS IMAGES.
