If we develop alternative forms of energy, the Islamists will be screwed.

actually the pollution in China is killing its citizens at an alarming rate. If it werent for environmental laws it would be that way here. So caribou or something the something is your life. Pollution affectes everyone. Think about it next time you are at the docs waiting on a cancer test result. islamofascists cant eat religion and sand is not drawing much on the world market so as long as they have oil there will be oil to buy. Why deplete ours when the rest of the worlds oil supply might not last another 50 years. The idea for an immediate fix is to wean us off of foreign oil but long term that is no solution to our problem. Eventually, perhaps sooner that you think the oil will be gone and we will need to have developed a viable alternative such as hydrogen, or solar. Go look in a mirror, is that freckle a freckle or is it skin cancer? Is that dry patch of skin on your nose just dry skin or did that sunburn you got at the beach last year mutate the cells and is now precancer? The ozone layer does serve a purpose ya know. The government throws out a limit that a chemical company can dump of methylene chloride into the rivers, is that limit low enough? water treatment facilities only filter out dirt and treat for bacteria. that potassium dichromate is still in there. next time you take a drink of water think about that. You cant say damn mother nature, to hell with the environment, if it will kill a caribou think of what it will do to you.

This is interesting.
"Iran is planning to stop using the US dollar to price oil with less than half of its oil income now paid in the US currency, Iran's Central Bank Governor said."
Saddam did the same thing just before the Iraq war. Frankly raising the gas tax would encourage people to use less. Europe & everyone else drive smaller vehicles because of higher gas taxes. Aren't you tired of going to war over oil?
We have been fooled into thinking gas at $2.60 is cheap.
Canada, Mexico, and Venzuela are our top 3 sources for oil. Have you heard about the North American Union, the Superhighway from Mexico to Canada? Venzuela-well, another oil source is an enemy.

"our" oil? Wow, you really are a chauvinist! Did Jesus give us the oil or something and I just missed that whole part of the Bible?
God forbid we protect some of the wilderness left on earth. God forbid we give women reproductive choice. God forbid we invest our wealth in something other than the obviously depleting petroleum resources that are contributing to record carbon emissions. But I'm sure you think that global warming is a scientific hoax perpetuated by the Big Environmental Science Industry with all their money and influence.
And if you are so pissed that the "libs" are keeping you from "your" oil, why don't you ask Bush why he won't try to improve relations with Venezuela? Why don't you ask Bush why he won't even respond to letters from the President of Iran regarding American-Iranian relations?
"Libs" know that nothing comes for free - especially oil - and that at least we don't pay nearly as much for oil as our counterparts in Europe do. Gas prices are pretty bad, but we "libs" don't have to fill our H3 with premium gas every two days, so I don't think it hurts us quite as much. You see, we are actually interested in conserving this obviously precious resource, not drilling it out of pristine glaciers and piping it into fighter jets (ever think about how much petroleum it takes to fight a war?).
"bush raised gas prices to oppress the poor"? Who ever suggested that? Nice try, but no. Try -- "gas companies continue to jack up the price of gas so that their stockholders can make a profit and their CEOs can go home with huge bonuses." Yeah, its true that OPEC is also keeping the price of oil high, but it is (hate to break it to you) more THEIR oil than OURS... it is sort of in their land. Oh, but Jesus gave it to us. I forgot.

The obvious solution is to stop our dependence on oil and use renewable clean energy sources, ie; solar, wind, electric cars, and organtic grown fuels....literally vegetable oils.
Do you know you can drive a car fueled with 100% corn oil? It's true.
The controversies you outlined would become non-issues
and MORE importantly we would be saving the environment. Truthfully, we have long past the stage where using alternative energy is just "a nice idea" We simply cannot continue our old habits. It is pointless to wrestle with oil issues when ultimately oil is not the answer.

Hel-LO?!? The "war is all about oil" arguement ended with the first gulf war in the early 90's. What rock have you been hiding under? This war is all about Cheney and his butt-buddies trying to get richer while Bush stands around and looks dumb. Our economy doesn't depend on oil, it depends on MONEY. And all of you cons/libs morons really need to give it a rest already. The rest of us really don't care and have much better things to do with our time. Get a clue.

So you're saying Bush would have to "raise the oil" prices?
Hmmm, he would NEVER do that would he? Our beloved president with 30% approval rating... $3.10 per gallon!
It has been worth the lives, to keep our oil prices low, so long as it's none of the politicians childred dying, it's WORTH it to keep our gas at only $3.10 a gallon, compared to what it was when Clinton was in office... what was that... about $1.50
They're terrorists too, don't forget with WMDs. Our beloved president who could NEVER do wrong, is "protecting" us from those evil-doers... Mission Accomplished!

Their soil, their oil. We've known for 30 years the dangers of over dependence on foreign oil and have chosen to ignore it.

The problem is that the liberals have to have something to whine about, so they chose oil, wrong choice but they chose it. We don't get oil from Iraq, we get our oil from Canada, Mexico, Venezuela and Africa in that order. What we get from the middle east (saudia Arabia) is very very small! Our economy is run by oil, and they and the green party don't want us to drill off shore or in the ANWR but you can't have your cake and eat to and sooner or later, without alternative fuels, we will have to drill. Gas prices are affected by supply and demand, and the maintainence of the refineries and what they are geared up to produce. I know, I'm in the business!
