Yeah, the only problem with Sony is that everything with that brand is expensive.
Keep in mind that this laptop only has 2 USB ports, so if you want more capacity, get a port replicator(of course, that one you can get from ebay at a cheap price), or a USB hub
However, beign a Sony VAIO owner myself, I can say that I would buy again and again from them.

Sony's are not bad laptops. But keep in mind that you are paying a premium for nothing more than the "Sony" logo that is stamped on the lid.
You can get similar quality laptops from Toshiba, IBM, HP, Compaq etc.
