I read this article as well and it said that the law read that only if she remarries or dies, the alimony would stop. That's where I think this man should fight having to pay alimony. She, in a sense, is dead. She is now a man, she changed her name, and the woman she used to be no longer exists, according to her own will and doing. I think this man's lawyers should use this avenue to fight the alimony. If their state doesn't recognize same sex marriages, it is impossible for these two to ever reconcile. If she feels she was a man all along in a woman's body, she should have to pay back the alimony. Damn, I should have been a lawyer!
If they are going to uphold this in court, then they should ban sex changes!

I read that article and I think it should be dropped. After all, he married a woman, not a man. And, since the wife is not a woman any longer, the judge should order the alimony be stopped!

The chances of finding a judge to over turn a ruling on spousal support, because of a sex change, is slim to none. They were legally married, legally divorced, and the judge ordered support for the spouse. Case closed.....

No because she has now become a he and he couldn't technically be paying any alimony to a he because legally, he and he can't get married in most of the US.

Yes....
sex change or not, it's still not his wife anymore.
He pays til that person remarries or however long his court order says so. Still the same person inside.
Would he want alimony if he was in his ex's position?

She's still the same person, and still had to put up with his crap for all those years.
So, yeah, he/she should get the money.
