you will propably have a panel of interviewers with once being really nice and one being a bit agressive. Stay calm and answer the questions honestly. Dont get stressed (just imagine them sitting on the toilet - they are no better than you) and be yourself. When I employ people I look for honesty above everything else and someone who is willing to learn so dont worry if you cant do everything they are asking - tell them you are a quick learner and willing to learn.Good luck.

Hi I work for a council and have spent all this week interviewing. A question you should expect will be about their equal opportunities policy or diversity policy (both kinda big within councils at the moment) do yourself a favour and just check their website and brush up on them. Its always good to ask questions - maybe ask what are the career prospects shows that you are keen and prepared to work hard.
Good luck I hope you get the job x

Do NOT bother to turn up. If you get appointed to the job, it will KILL any future promotion asperations you have. I spent 7 VERY boring years in one Local Council, I regreted it as soon as I walked in on my first day. It took that length of time to get another job and leave. The only job I could get pays a LOT less than I was getting in previous jobs.

Be ready with proof (verbal) of skills that you have. Give examples of how you have used software e.g. Microsoft Excel and Word, how you keep files, how you prioritise work, telephone skills and customer care. How you team work and how you can use your own initiative. Prove by giving examples. Good Luck, stay calm.
