How is what Lady Macbeth does in revenge? What does she seek revenge for?

Lady Macbeth isnt the type to do something herself. She needled and picked at her husband until she had him with murder on his mind. In the end, she paid the price by going crazy. She doesnt want revenge as much as she wants the power of being Queen with her husband on the throne. She is an opportunist at heart. It's funny that she is the type of character who would never get her hands dirty in real life, yet when she goes mad, that's exactly what she sees - blood on her hands. Pax - C.

I agree with the previous posters in that Lady Macbeth does not seem to be motivated mostly by revenge, but rather by ambition and greed. However, she might be out for revenge for some sort of perceived slight to her and Macbeth himself. This is not mentioned in the play and is purely speculative, but perhaps she might believe that the King has not paid his dues, so to speak, by not promoting or recognizing Macbeth sooner.

However, that is contradictory to the first act of the play, where great fanfare is made of Macbeth's achievements on the battlefield. If this was a question posed to you, I'd argue against the idea that she was out for revenge period. Barring that, there is no clear answer.

Revenge, hell. She put him up to it, and the blood is on her hands. It is not a question of revenge but of ambition.
