Bush and McCain both claim that if we leave Iraq before the "job is done, terrorists like bin Laden will follow us home."

How will they do this?

See: I should've been more *succinct* with my line of questioning.

I should've asked: "HOW are the going to get from the Middle East to US shores *if* we leave Iraq?"

They've been working on their long distance swimming.

Sorry, it's hard to give a serious answer to such a ridiculous assertion. There are terrorists worldwide, not just in Iraq.

these two think the situation there is polarized . In other words the terrorists are focusing all their energy on making sure there is no democracy in Iraq keeping their eyes off of the states for now - I disagree but i will respect your wishes and not bicker

By having a state-supported base in which to train terrorists, and from which to command and coordinate attacks.

Like al queerda used Afghanistan.

The thought is that, if US leaves Iraq before a stable democracy is in place, then - in the anarchy that will follow - substantial areas of land will cdome under teh control of people sympathetic to al queerda, and will provide tehm logistical, training, and tactical support.

If they haven't got to fight us in the Middle East, they'll devote all of the resources they have to terrorizing us here in the US, or in more accessible countries in Europe.
How will they do this? The same way they did 9/11, i imagine: covertly. It only takes one man to deliver a truck to the heart of NYC, or a dirty bomb in LA. One man or woman, for that matter.

We will be dealing with terrorists, as we have for decades, with or without a "victory" in the Middle East.

Unfortunately, your premise is flawed, if you believe some gunga in a cave instigated the pseudo-war on terror.

Fact is, Iraq had nothing to do with security or democracy. Saddam (who was placed into power by the CIA) ticked off Bush by threatening to switch from "petro" dollars to Euros. Shortly before the deadline, we "liberated" the poor schmucks.

Iran has thrice threatened to switch from dollars to Euros. Their deadline approached, and suddenly the US and our patsies in the UN had questions about nuclear energy, even though the IAEA has cited nothing but compliance by Iran.

It doesn't take a genius to figure this crap out...only simple research.

I see that Bush's No Child Left Behind has not helped you. Many AlQaeda have streamed into Iraq to engage the US Military. If there is an abrupt pull out of our military many of these terrorist will be now free to engage US interest elsewhere. Just because we leave does not mean they will stop hating us. Comprende?
