It's a very good card at it's price point. It will play most current games, but no $150 card will outperform a $300 card.
I'd recommend going for a GeForce 7950XT or Radeon X1950XT, if your budget allows it.

I am rockin' that same card at home.
While it does not have Direct X 10 support, it is still a very good video card. It plays almost all of the newest games at respectable resolutions and video quality.
Definitely worth the money. Though the newer 8800gts is starting to come down in price. You might want to just wait for that one.

In a scale from 1 to 10, that card is a 8.9
It will play just about any game with great resolution and maxed out settings.
However, this card will not play DX-10 games. To date, I don't think there is a single 'DX-10 only' game out there, but in about 2 years there migth be.

I'm assuming you're using pci-express because the 7900 series isn't made for agp or pci. I have the geforce 7600GS and I can play all of the latest pc games including flight simulator X on high settings. Considering the 7900 is even better, I would say yes, it can play all of the latest games.
