I've only seen it once. We're pretty lucky to only have one disabled person.

It's a fact that most disabled people live in proverity. When the passed the ADA in 1992 (americans with disabilities act) which was supposed to give them equal rights as the rest of us.
I wonder about this, seems you don't see many disabled people working.

You REALLY need to get out more, or to redefine your interpretation of "disabled". Almost any place you look you can find a disabled person working. Being disabled (according to the extent of the disability) does not mean that a person is incapable of doing anything. Are you aware that there are laws against discriminating against the disabled and that most places are encouraged to hire the disabled? I'm disabled but, as you can see, I am able to type - I'm also able to do many things that even probably you can do. Remember, disabled does not mean vegetable.

Many times. I really feel that when a person is really disabled physically they have a lot of strength trying to better themselves.

I know of one such man. He was born without legs and only one finger on his right hand. He married and had five children. He ran a trash collecting service without the aid of others. He would pick up dead animals on the highway and take them away. He had a dump truck which he hauled dirt, gravel, and sand. Once he got stuck in some mud. Did he ask for help? No, he got out it himself.

I really had a lot of admiration for him. He was a wonderful man and good father. He passed away last year at age 75. The community honored him for his good community service after he passed on to hopefully a better life.

I've seen plenty...my nursing school teacher for example. She had a TIA (stroke), and lost her ability to practice in the field, so she went back to school for her master's to teach. My bf was a slight disability from the war in Iraq, yet he works a job and a half. I have also waited tables with a guy who had "claws" for hands, his fingers were fused together forming only 2 digits on each hand. This woman with one eye worked at my local 7-11. I have also known deaf people and blind people that work...so what's your point? Maybe you just don't know many people with disablities...since when did disability bashing become a good time?

It's been in operation for over twenty years and is quite successful.

Since Bush took over with his "New Freedom Initiative" a lot of perosns with disabilities have lost their jobs.

But that's alright--just add it to the bad karma he's got. That man is going to come back as a cockroach! :)

BTW--don't bet you've only seenone disabled person working. Sometimes its not a "visible disability." Mine isn't most of the time--even though I'm legally blind. And I do work--and had best get off Y/A and do some! :)
