We need to wait 5 more games to find this out, although we know some of the games will be played at Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh. As it stands now they would be playing Ottawa in the first round, but the Pens are on fire and they stand a good chance of playing the 7th seeded team or even a slim chance of obtaining the most points in the East and playing the 8th seeded team, which could be one of about 5 different teams right now.

The pens are tied with ottawa and new jersey as of right now with jersey having an advantage because they played one less game than the pens. Theoretically the pens could jump from playing ottawa in the first round to being the 2nd place team in the Eastern Conference and playing whoever makes it in the cluster at the 7th place seed in the eastern conference right now. So as of right now, as others have said we would play ottawa. If we (the pens) are in 4th then we would have home advantage or if we are in 5th then ottawa would have home advantage.
LETS GO PENS!

if they finish in 5th place they will play vs the Sens at Ottawa for the first 2 games of the series, since Ottawa is in 4th. if the Pens go ahead of the Sens then the first 2 games of the series will be played in Pittsburgh.
top 4 teams in each conference gets the home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
HOPE THIS HELPS.

Its not fully determined yet but they will probably open with two at home then two on the road against the Sens. Or it could be two in Ottawa before returning home for two.

the pens may catch jersey. if so they will have home ice advantage and play the 7 seed. if they dont, they will most likely play ottowa, depending on who has the most points will get the home ice advantage.
