No it isnt helpful, thats why our country is obese. We are seeing advertisements for food everywhere, and fast food has become the most advertised and most eaten at places in the country. I'm not saying that obese people are completely not to blame for their weight but, its certainly not helping that all over in the media they have delicious looking meals being shoved down their throat!
Shame on the media, but everyone is out to earn a buck

Of course not. In fact, there was an independent filmmaker who made a movie a few years ago entitled "Supersize Me." As I recall, this man, who began at a healthy weight, waist size, cholesterol, etc., ate McDonald's meals three times a day. The portions were not huge, and in fact I'm not even sure he always ordered the super size, but he gained a bunch of weight, his cholesterol went through the roof, and he had liver problems.
We are a country of lardbutts, which is in part a result of and in part a cause of commercials like the ones you mention.

Well the real funny thing is, when you tell them how to really lose the weight they get mad. They'd rather buy something that sits in the corner, garage or attic than to really use it. They think they only have to buy something and walla! The fat is off. It takes work and determination to look like I do.

People are going to do what they want. There are plenty of tools to help people lose weight. What are they gonna do? Ban fast food commercials? Then what? Drive thrus are to convinient...ban those too? People just need to learn self control, but they have to want to first.

LOL Good question. I have to watch my weight and sometimes I need to turn away from the fast food commercials. I've come to think of them as food porn. :-)

I'm not skinny, but if people are so weak to be influenced by what they see on tv, then they get what they deserve. All they have to do is say "no".

People have a mind of their own. The commercials show them something-they don't brainwash them or anything. You're still responsible for your actions.

not really but you got to eat.
if you want to lose weight get on a diet and exercise, work with your doctor too.
if he complains about your weight, punch him and find a new one.
this is probably more than you want to know, but i am just guessing.

How can asking someone if they would like to eat more possibly be helpful to overweight people?
