mix up a small mixture of dry powder using icing sugar and baking soda a 50/50 mix and spread that in the corners of the walls near ant trails. The pets won't smell it, the ants can find it and take it to their home and never return. Safe.

I've heard that, but I have doubts about how useful it would be. I know people who keep their animals food away from ants by putting the pet dishes in a shallow pan with water. The ants don't want to swim out to get the food.

I found an ant poison which is harmless to animals. It's made with boric acid. It works on ants that are after sweets. They take it home and share it, poisoning the whole colony. Boric acid is used as an eye wash and is harmless to people and pets.

I have never herd of this, but it sounds interesting, and it is not dangerous to pets, if they eat it it may give them a bit of loose stools but that's it. Although if the cinnamon was mixed with sugar I'd suspect it would actually attract ants. My grandmother uses white vinegar to repel ants and it works wonders in my home (dilapidated 19th century farm house) even in the summer when ants and spiders are everywhere!

They actually make a special pet food dish (I got mine at Petco) that is made to keep the ants out. Its got a separate ring around the outside that you fill with water. The ants can't swim across it to get to the food. Kind of like a moat. Pretty neat. It worked for us.

I've never heard that before but that doesn't mean it's not true. I personally use Toro but not where my pets "and I have all kinds" can get to it. If you are talking about an outdoor pet and their food dish is on the ground outside; try putting the food dish up on something that is still low enough for your pet to reach it's food. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Having both cats and ferrets, when I get ants I don't use anything but cinnamon, works everytime. I simply find where they are coming in and sprinkle the cinnamon and no more ants. Wonderful!!
