They don't understand why it failed. It was due to a fundamental error in Marxist philosophy: that labor is the only creator of value. But trade creates value also, as Marx should have known -- he cited a paper on the subject in a footnote in Das Kapital. When you take this into account, the entire reason for his program falls apart. Marx's mistake is by far the most expensive error that anyone has ever made in all of human history: the cost has run to trillions of dollars, and tens of millions of lives, and is continuing to increase every day.

And so you think that Democracy can not afford to give its people Free Health Care and Free Educations?

Were you aware that the Republicans have been giving all of the Iraqis people these things from the start of the war and it continues to this day?

If America's little experiment of "Democracy" ever fails it will be because of the Republicans that doomed it with their greed and corruption!

And that is happening as we speak!

The main reason they do is because of innate inferiority complex. Communism elevates mediocrity. The people that feel threatened by anothers successes always want to see them torn down.

Who thinks Communism is the way to go? I have not heard anyone arguing for it in America. And I have only heard people talk about socializing healthcare, not the complete economy. You must have been talking to some very strange people if they want the US to go Communist or Socialist... definitley not Democrats.

the idea that they failed is a falllacy. the systems yoiu mention are quite good, the problem lay in the implementation of the system.
since they are ideals, they cannot be implemented as such, but must conform to the standards set by those seeking to impose them. since men are always seeking something for themselves, at the expense of others, no political structure works as it was designed, but only as the leaders allow.
some think that democracy is good, as is republicanism. they are also ideals, and only work as well as the leadership allows. there is no p[olitical structure, except dictatorship, which works as well as its idealistic model. unfortunately, noit even a dictatorship will work as designmed unless it imposes the same terms on everyone, leaders included.
the dictatorship is also the most efficient form of governance. the problem is in those who are implementing the rules for their own advantage.

Communism was an abject failure in every single instance that it was attempted. It is attractive to to certain people still because it alleviates both the people and the leaders from the responsibility of taking care of themselves.

People would prefer failure and suffering to taking responsibility for their own actions.

Socialism and Communism are two different things. There has never been a 'truly' Communist government anywhere so Communism hasn't failed. I doubt if many on 'Answers' know the difference between the two

They think as time goes on people are smarter/more intellegent so by now we should be able to get it right. It would probably work if everyone thought they couldn't get anymore than they alread had.

It is because the people in charge did not do it right, thats right I went there. IF Trotsky has been in charge of the soviet union things would have bee different, and Mao was just a wacko.
