it's not the airconditioning you need to worry about it is the radiation or the chance of it leaking even though they microwaves are shielded. There are kits that can measure them to see if they are leaking. Department of Environmental health would have them or Maplins any good electrical store.

Don't be scared though! The chances are very low that you will have a leakage. read the link below for all the answers!

Oh and order me some Chicken Ding please!!! (If you own a microwave you will probably make Chicken 'ding' often)

First, the air conditioning has nothing to do with it unless you are getting overheated. Drinking alot of water would help this.

Secondly, microwaves are considered "non-ionizing" radiation, and thus are quite different from x-rays and such.

Thirdly, microwaves are well-shielded unless they are poorly maintained. They cook by transmitting radio energy into the food. This excites the water molecules, which in turn heats the food, thus cooking it. No, or very little energy should leave the microwave, and the chances are that you get more radio energy into your body from your cell phone than from your microwave, or even all five, where you work.

If the microwaves are clean, and the door gaskets are sealing reasonably well, there is little or no energy escaping the microwave. You should be safe.

ok, first microwaves emit alfa radiation wich are basicly large clumps of radiation wich evan paper can stop and your skin is much thicker. the microwave door stops this. Anyway beta and gamma radiation are more penitrive and can get through the door. there is some speculation that beta radation (in large enough quantities) can cause damage to cells altough this hasnt be proved yet. gamma radiation passes through objects all the time and doesnt do anything at all.

all in all their is no danger at the presant but it may be a good idea to open a door and let the room vent every now and then

anyway, if you work in a resturant kitchen why are their microwaves?

No its not good because you need to have room in the area. Its just like if you have all kinds of animals in one room what you think would happen. And you need to have air because it you dont it might cause a fire.
