While I have never done it I have had a friend that boiled water (or if you have a humidifier or steamer) and hold the envelop over the steam which loosens the glue and viola, opened envelope. To re-seal it, just do add a little water to the glue and stick it down, place a heavy object like a book or something on top for an hour to re-seal.

Try holding it over the steam part of a tea kettle on the stove, it should "melt" the glue enough to open it carefully then you can just seal it back up by licking it again, maybe putting lil dots of glue on the edges and the middle to hold it down, the person really opening it will never know HOW the person sending it sealed it originally.

Steam used to work pretty well but you have to be careful not to wilt the envelope.

You will get caught though because you don't have a poker face.... do you?
