I have two pet mice that from some reason i think that they are escaping from their cage and they go back in their cage by themselves. the reason i think this is happening is because my couches have been torn up. you can see their teeth marks on them. I am just amazed on how they could get out cause there is no holes in the cage and why would they get back in the cage. we dont have wild rats or anything. we never have had any. so i dont know. i have a CRITTERTRAIL cage. its one of those three level ones. has anyone esle expierenced this also? any ideas how they could of escaped and get back in?

i dont have wild mice cause one of the babies that my pet mice had escaped so we put glue traps everywhere. we caught the baby but still never picked up the rest of the traps. nothing has gotten caught on them and its been over a week.

A mouse can fit through a hole the size of a pencil, so why not your cage..?

Spooky! Is it a wire cage? It didn't sound like it in your question tho!
The only thing I can advise is that (apparently) mice can squeeze through holes you'd never imagine that they could. I've heard it said they can get through holes as small as the width of a biro, how true that is I don't know. I keep my mice in a wire cage, which they would theoretically be able to get out of but they never have. So have a VERY close look at that cage, perhaps with a magnifying glass!!!
I can only assume you do have some wild mice around - tho I suppose you'd find droppings. Tho I didn't know I also had wild mice visits for a long time until one shot across my bedroom floor - almost giving me a heart attack I might add. Then I opened an old cupboard and it was FULL of droppings!
