Why would you allow them to come back and rub it in? Why would you let them that close to you to talk?

I think it's something to do with men being 'proud' and not wanting to look like losers.
Like, if you dump them they'll make sure you see them with a girlfriend just to be like "HAH, see! I'm over you!"
It's about winning.. or.. something like that. o_O
Not all guys are like that, though ^^

Your question makes a huge assumption that all men do this, which is completely untrue.
