A friend of mine has a guinea pig that fell off of a night stand onto a concrete floor, and broke its front tooth off. She is wanting to show him in 4H and the tooth needs to be grown back to do so, so my question is, will it grow back?

Thanks!

if it broke off, yes. Rodent teeth never stop growing. That's why they need to gnaw on things constantly to wear them down.

If the tooth fell out completely, then no.

If the tooth broke off and has a jagged end to it, you should take the piggy to the vet to have to tooth filed/cut off straight and neat, so that it doesn't have any problems eating, and so it doesn't hurt itself. And to check for any other injury.

I had to have my guinea pig's teeth filed down once (they were overgrown because the other pig wouldn't let her eat, hence she couldn't wear the tooth down). It's a pretty minor deal, and didn't cost much at all. It's not too different from clipping nails (but absolutely do NOT do it yourself!)

A nightstand is no place for a peeg. Too slippery!

Guinea Pig teeth continue to grow all their lives. If the tooth was not knocked out but just broken it should grow back in length.

Until it does grow back, maybe try mushing his pellet food up with a bit of water so he can eat?
