So, I have an out of state customer. He sent me a check for merchandise. I cashed it waited two weeks, it cleared, so I shipped him out $200 of merchandise (the amount of the check). Then a week later(3 weeks after cashing it), it showed up in my account as a NSF check. I called him and he gave me an excuse. Every week for the past month and a half I've been calling him to see where my money is and he has an excuse. What can I do to get my money?

Here's some more info... I deposited the check at home--it's a tool where you scan the check and it goes to your account.. I waited two weeks to ensure it didn't bounce. The fund went into my account in a week...then 2 weeks from there they were withdrawn, my bank sent me a copy of the check and it said NSF

Report to the police/district attorneys office. This person may have a record of this type of activity in several states. The police and or DA's office can check them out and file charges against them.

Something about this story is not quite right. First, it does not take a bank 3 weeks to clear a business check. Did your bank put a hold on the funds when you deposited the check?
Or did you actually go to the bank and exchange the check for cash?
In Texas you can not cash a check made out to a company - it must first be deposited into that company's business account.

If the check is made out to and individual and you did cash it, and then it is RNSF - you are out both your money AND your merchandise.

You can file a claim in small claims court but that would cost you more that the $200.00 you are already out.

It may be too late to make a report. Yes, take this to a title company, I believe they are the ones who deal with this. This person will have a warrant put out, and when found, will face the charges. At least that's one way of doing it.

Sorry.
