Billy Donovan has been offered 3.5 million for 7 years to coach at the University of Kentucky. Should he jump ship to go to Kentucky or stay in Florida? Why or Why not? I personally live in Kentucky and am not a UK fan because of the treatment of Tubby Smith by the UK fanbase.

Yes, and he will come to Kentucky because he knows that Kentucky is a major basketball school. They hired the Florida football coach and gave him a larger salary than Donovan and Donovan had been there 10 years. The football coach was just coming in and made more money than Donovan. That must have been a slap in his face. He will not turn down the Kentucky offer and having been an assistant coach there, he knows that the Kentucky basketball coach is treated like a god in the state. And the 3.5 million does not account for the bonuses he will get not the endorsement money he will make. ESPN reported that Tubby Smith made 11 million dollars in the state of Kentucky last year alone. So don't feel sorry for Tubby; he lined his pockets well while coaching Kentucky.

Donovan is coming to UK. You heard it here first. He already has a house in Versailles, KY. His wife is a horse nut. Kentucky is the best job in college basketball. Besides UNC. Florida can't win in a bidding war, UK has the alumni support to pay the guy 5 million a year if they want. Its a done deal. Hopefully win donovan comes he will bring his top recruits Patterson and Ja Lucas.

He probably won't. He's been offered an NBA job and jobs at other colleges, but I don't think he will take any of them. Years ago he wanted the top job at UK, but alot has changed since then. He's led his team to the Final Four twice and has made UF a top contender in basketball. He's brought alot of good recruits to Florida, and he absolutely loves coaching in Gainesville. Also, he has two daughters that are already settled in their schools. In the heart of it all, Donovan is a family man who wouldn't put his family through the stress of being an NBA coach and travelling everywhere, and at the same time he doesn't want to uproot them after being an upstanding resident in the Gainesville community for 11 years.

Not if he is a wise man.
The pressure to win championships at Kentucky will be fivefold what it is at Florida because of Kentucky's decades-long basketball tradition.
He's better off staying at Florida, especially if they win another championship this season.

if billy is smart he will remain at florida, he has the entire athletic department in the palm of his hand with his recent successes and can basically name his price for a new contract...he has all the leverage in this situation because by all indications the athletic department would give almost anything for him to stay...also, having been an assistant at uk, he probably knows what a pressure cooker it is there

If he's thinking correctly he won't. I'm from Kentucky also. I have never liked UK. That team gets crammed down our throats every day. I'm glad Tubby got out!

Should he? Why ? He's got it made in Florida already!
