No. So what if it costs 1.2 cents to create 1 penny. It has Abe Lincoln's portrait on it. Wasn't he the president who decided to preserve the Union? For a long time he wasn't very popular, and his decision to go to war to liberate an oppressed people (African Americans) sent a lot of men to war. Sounds like our current President George W. Bush, bless his heart, he isn't very popular, he freed an oppressed people (Iraqis). Hmm. OK we can get rid of the penny, but only if we make it worth two cents and put President George W. Bush's portrait on it.

I have about a million pennies lying around the house, never spent. I think pennies should be abandoned, they are just taking up space. It costs more to make them than they are worth.

Yes. If something today is $0.99 then something back then costs $0.099 and there's no such thing as a 9/10's of a penny so back then it would be $0.10 or $1.00 today.
back then when money was more valuable prices were not .99 like today.
people today want their prices super exact. the penny is worthless anyway.

I don't think so. Pennies have been around for a long time now. Save them up...take them to a bank, get cash in return. Besides, they come in handy when you need that extra cent.

Then all branches of government can round up all taxes to the nearest nickle.
