that depends on the type of fish if it's a cheep goldfish or betta they can survive without one. Most saltwater fish require a filter, they are more delicate. It all depends on the type of fish.

Depends on the fish, the tank and the water quality. As long as the water stays clean, it doesn't matter if it's from a filter or from changing about 1/2 of the water every 2-3 days. Don't get me wrong here, a tank with a filter is ALWAYS easier to maintain and unless you are a very experienced aquarium keeper and know exactly what to do and when, it's far better on the fish too if you have that filter. They seem expensive, but in the long run are well worth it to keep your fish healthy.

It depends on what type fish they are, how many you have, what size tank it and how often you change the water. The larger the tank and the lower the stocking level, the slower the ammonia will build. If you are heavily stocked in a small tank, you will most likely have to do 100% water changes every day to remove the ammonia. At the very least you should do 100% water changes every other day regardless of the fish or stocking level. Doing partial changes still allows the ammonia level to continually rise. Fish as always much better off in a filtered tank and it isn't that much more expensive or tie consuming.

All fish need filters to thrive since all of them crap and it needs to be filtered out, some can survive without them if you keep up with water changes. How long they can survive without a filter really depends on how big the tank is, how often it is cleaned, what kind of fish are in it and how many fish are in it. With a filter you can do partial water changes of around 20% once a week, 40% if you do it every 2 weeks, without a filter you obviously need to clean it more often and take out more water each time.

As an rabid hobbyist, I tried to maintain the pH and ammonia through the use of plants with the addition of aerator. I found that this combination with 10-15% water changes every 2-3 months worked great. However, It really depends on the type of fish in the tank. If it is a communal tank you might need to change the water and clean the tank more often. I had a tank with live plants and did nothing but add water for a year before I had to clean it, I had no algae growth due to the combination of fish in the tank and other fish kept the plants cropped. It is really a matter of doing your homework before you start. Have a plan.

your fish will probably last two days without a filter. it needs a filter because, it uses up the oxygan in the water. the filters put more oxygan in the water so the fish can survive.
you should probably clean your tank every month, but you can get by with only cleaning it every two months
hope i helped!

a fish can live fine without a filter...i am a college student and many people have them without a filter and all the fish are fine. they like it better because it cleans the water and puts air into the water but the catch is that if you don't have one the tank must be cleaned regularily like at least once a week

It depends on the type of fish. I have a Beta Fish (Chinese Fighter) and they do not require a filter however you should proabably clean once a week - week 1/2. But like i said it really depends on the type of fish you have.

Not long at all. At least weekly 20% water change with gravel vac, especially since you will not filter the water.
