The stores profit was $278,350 in 1999
2000 profit was $675,852.36. (revenue) minus $428,352.36
(costs) = $247,500 of profit
That is a decrease from 1999
$278,350 minus $247,500 = total decrease of $30,850
Dividing the 2000 profit decrease from the 1999 total profit and you will get the percent of decrease.
$30,850 / $278350 =.11083 or a decrease of 11.083 percent.
Round off the number and you get 11%
C is the answer

The answer is C, decrease of about 11%.
First, you have to subtract the 2000 costs figure ($428,352.36) from the revenue figure ($675,852.36). This equals $247,600, which is your profit figure for the year 2000.
Then you subtract the $247,600 (profit for 2000) from $278,350 (profit for 1999). This equals $30,750 decrease in profit from the years 1999 to 2000.
I note that the four possible answers all want an "about" percentage. So, taking the higher profit figure to figure the percentage of loss, 10% of $278,350 (move the decimal one point to the left) would be $27,835, and another 1% (move the decimal two points to the left) would be $2,783. $27,835 + $2,783 = $30,618. And the figure $30,618 (which is 11%) is closer to the $30,750 decrease in profit than 14% of $278,350 could be - right? (And if you don't believe me, $278,350 x .14 = $38,969.)
And no algebra was involved.
Hope this helps - :)

To find the Profit for 2000 you want to subtract the costs from the revenue.
$675,852.36 - $428,352.36 = $247,500 Profit in year 2000
The difference between 2000 profit and 1999 profit is $30,850.
$30,850/$278,350 = 11% decrease from 1999 to 2000
Answer is C

first find the profit for 2000, its the revinue minus the cost so 675852.36 - 278350 which is 247,500
now you need to find whch one was more, 1999 profit is more and since that was earlier it is percent decrease
now to find the prcent decrase
subtract the 2000 pofit from the 1999 profit 278350 - 247500 which is 30,850.
now you need to find what percent of the original (1999) profit that is. the perecnt is found by dividing the diference of the profits by the 1999 profits which is 30850/278350 which euals .1108 now mutipy that by one hundrand and you have ur answer: decrase of 11.08 percent. thats leter c.

Revenue less cost yields profit, so in 2000 $675,852.36 - $428,352.36 is a profit of $247,500.00 1999 's profit of $278,350 minus $247,500 is $30,850 decrease. Compare that ($30,850) to the 1999 profit of $278,350 to get the answer. Gotta let you finish it else you will not learn anything, good luck.

decrease of 11% to figure this out the formula looks like this:
1-((675852.36-428352.36)/278350) and remember to change the sign to negitive because the profit is lower in 2000,
good luck
