I've been with my bf on and off for about 4 yrs and i've never been with anyone else, we've had our fights and then gotten back together. I love him, and I am happy when i am with him despite the silly fights we get in. Yesterday i told him i loved him like usual, and i asked him if he loved me, he said why? i said because i do, you make me happy and i am in love with you, he said no, ur infatuated. I am not? I am I? I mean i don't want be with anyone else. I could never spend too much time with him, i love being with him, even after being together for almost 4 yrs , i feel like i could never had too much of him, i love seeing him, and spending time with him? is this normal? Is this love? They say that when you love someone you picture them in ur future, but i try not to because i get scared at times because he wants to go to med school and i am not sure which one. PLEASE HELP

Time is the only answer. You are first infatuated with someone.
Then you begin to know and appreciate them. Love starts to bloom and with time and continued support/intimacy/sharing it will grow into true love. Sorry, honey...that's not what you have here.

It sounds to me that you love. It also sounds to me that he doesn't. The worst kind of love is unrequited love. You're being set up for pain. You at least know you're capable to love fully without reservation. The beauty of life as short as it is , you can love again. You need to get out of this relationship
Infatuation, doesn't last as long , it is usually a surface thing.
Looks , attributes or fame. Like if you had a thing for a rock star. You don't even know them , this is infatuation..
You will find guys that will love you and you will be moved but you may not love them. Being truly loved is an ultimate honor. Your choice is how long you'll wait to love them back. Each man is different. Try not to compare with your boyfriend. Love is much more complicated than infatuation. You can fall in love in one day . This guy doesn't love you. Please move on

The differance is TIME. If you still feel this way after a long while, it's more than infatuation. It's all about being mature and understanding eachother, trusting eachother, and loving eachother's imperfections.

Easy, Infatuation is one sided. It's when you feel love for someone but they do not feel the same for you. Love is Mutual, you look at each other with goo goo eyes. ;-)
