people only say good things about the person when their dead?

because their dead and you should be nice on their funeral day.....bash them tomorrow

Because they know they can't talk back to them & if by some chance there is a heaven maybe the dead will put in a good word for the living praising them and save them a spot.
It's called hedging your bets!

If they were a bad person i'm not afraid to say so but most people that died in my life were good people.

I don't. If it's the truth I can say mean things about someone who has passed away. I just make it a habit not to. It's impolite.
