do ya'll think that because my baby is so low in my pelvis already (the doctor said when he checked my cervix which is 2cms, that her head was pretty much engaged and shes been low since 32 weeks) is why i measuring kinda like im only 37 weeks when i should be 39-40 now? or could there be something wrong? my 34 week u/s came out saying she was 5.8 lbs that day, so she seemed pretty big. anyone know or have an experience with this? im curious because my doctor doesnt want to think about inducing me even though im in terrible pain and already full term (almost less than a week or so) until i measure past 40 weeks

If something was wrong your dr would have told you. When I was 14 weeks I measured at 16 weeks. When I was 20 weeks I measured 19 weeks, when I delievered 5 weeks early I measured 38 weeks. Dont worry about it. as long as your baby is healthy and Im going to assume it is since your dr hasnt said anything to you otherwise who cares how you measure. At my 34 week ultrasound I was told my son was 5 pounds I had him at 35 weeks 2 days and he was 7 pounds! Remember late term ultrasounds are not accurate and depending who does the ultrasound the outcomes will be different.

The measurement is no big deal at this point. The baby has dropped and you are beginning to dialate. Although people stay at 2cm for weeks sometimes. You probably don't want to be induced though, it draws the labor out and makes it more painful. I was scheduled to be induced at 39 weeks on a Monday morning so on Sunday afternoon I went to the mall and walked for 2 hours until I started having contractions at 4:00pm then I went to the hospital and my baby was born at 6:03pm. So easy, so fast, and not very painful. He had dropped the week before and I was also dialated to 2cm for a week. The doctor said that all the walking helped becasue it allows the body to work the baby into the prime position for birth. Just don't walk far away from the hospital!!!

I have 2 kids, I was induced with both.
My daughter who is 7 now but I was induced 2 weeks early because she was 9lbs and he didn't want her to get any bigger. I went in on Monday March 6th at 8am and I didn't have her until March 7th at 6:15 at night. So I was in labor for 36 hours.
Then with my son he is 8 months almost 9 now. But I went in on July 6th and was induced at 7am and I had him at 2:43pm that same day.
So it all depends on how your body takes being induced. I would say that my second baby was so much easier to deliver even though he was 9lbs and 12 oz and 21 inches long.

If anything was wrong your dr would tell you. I would say that if you are dialated that you should maybe clean house or go for a walk around the block a couple of times. But like the one person said don't walk to far in case you go into labor.

Good luck and Congrats on the new lil one.

I just had my sixth child back in October. I was measuring a little behind during my 37th and 38th week. I also started having a lot of pain and had noticed low fetal movement. They decided to do an ultrasound at my 39th and found that my amniotic fluid was very low; they admitted and induced me within an hour. Final assessment was that my baby was overdue. She was really about 41-42 weeks.

A good doctor will listen to your concerns and do what they can to ease your fears. I am not saying at all that what happened with me is happening with you. It's just that doctor's don't know everything. An ultrasound seems in order for you, have them check your fluid levels.

Hope this helps.
