do you get along with other girls?
If you were to meet your best friend, would you be friends?

me and my friends were talking about this, and we decided that we would probably hate eachother if we didn't know each other.

I have two best girl friends. We are all SO different. we've grown up in different worlds and some how in high school nontheless did we become friends. I try to get along with everyone as well, but i think girls just get competetive a lot and then "pick on" eachother.

Honestly, I have only 2 girls that are my best friends..
But for the most part, most of my friends are guys..
Just because they arent girls.. Most girls are to catty, backstabbers, homewreckers, or just flat out B******.
My 2 best gals I trust COMPLETELY!!!and it took awhile for me to trust them.

When I was younger, I used to get along with other girls quite well, but as I gew up, that changed- a lot!

I have gone from having a strong circle of girl friends to having absolutely no female companions, but an army of guy friends on my side. I think as high school came to an end, we all started to undergo the kinds of changes that either make or break friendships. Unfortunately, in my case, they broke.

Sometimes it does get to me, because there are times I wish I could have girlfriends to talk to again. No matter how much I love my boys, there are some things you can NOT talk to guys about.

I don't know what it is, though, about girls that makes me dislike them at this point. I think we all have little insecurities that makes us kind of catty towards other girls who don't have those issues (ex. weight, looks, material things, etc.). If we could all get over those defects, it would probably be so much easier to get along with everyone - but that's something that's up to us to change, isn't it?

Very true. But I've got 2 best friends, who are both girls. We will always stay best friends whatever life will throw at us, but friends like this are rare.

Perhaps it changes over the years. When you're young you regard each other as competition, as you get older with a young family you need female friends to let off steam and frustration about the differences between men & women (-> men not helping enough & not being sympathetic enough) and later as the divorces are coming through perhaps the competition factor is kicking in again... But I'm not sure on that one. I'm not quite there yet. ;)

I don't generally get along well with other girls boys are much easier to get along with and that pattern carries on into the later years also. girls tend to be catty and b***** I'm not sure why. Guys just want one of two things if you don't want the one and you can get him to accept friendship (the two) you probably have a really good friend who is not judgmental of gossipy. I have had the same best friend since 4th grade and we still keep in touch. I have never made a friend as good as her. A lot of women I know consider me their friend because they can talk to me or we do things together but I only consider them casual acquaintances, I would never confide in them. Truly good friends are rare, so treasure them!

I find it really difficult to get on with other women. My best friend (went to school together, now both 35) lives about 250 miles away and I don't see much of her. When we do get together it's absolutely brilliant. I find it difficult to get to know other women because I never feel comfortable with them the way I do with my best friend. I find fault with them and also worry about making a fool of myself so I end up coming across a bit snooty (I think).
I mentioned this to a woman the other day and she said "you're very funny. But then some people don't understand a dry sense of humour" Wasn't sure if that was an insult or not......

I've known my oldest friend since I was 2yrs old, there is no way we would be friends if we didn't know each other, we have totally different attitudes to life, she is very conservative, and likes luxury, I'm very open to knew things and have done heaps of travelling and lived in poor conditions in all sorts of places, she likes to feel safe and have someone to look after her- I moved to USA when I left home at 18yrs! She dresses smart and neat, I'm more of a hippy! But I wouldn't change her for the world- it's pretty special to have grown with someone for that long.

Yes this is so true, and not just with friends - family too. Some of the people i`m related to - well i love em yeh - but if i just met em i`d probably hate em ! It must be cos we`ve grown accustomed to their ways and know they mean no harm, so we just accept the stuff they do and say - even the bad stuff -that`s cos we like/love em so much - but if we`d just met em we`d be saying, "hey hang on a minute....! "

For some reason women are bithches. I,ve had a lot of jobs, and only once did we all really get along at work and away from work. If I would see one of my best friends from childhood, I know we would click. But the other 5 best friends from childhood--not so much. Maybe one.

I'm nice to everyone unless they are mean to me, if i met my best mate in the street and she wasnt my best mate and i'd never met her i would still get on great with her because we have ALOT in common and have similar opinions, and she is rlly polite when she meets someone new, and to adults, its kind of weird looking at the comparison to how she speaks to my mum and how i do and my other mates, one of my guy mates even hugs her all the time! Creppy.

I don't get along with them. I have 3 g/f's.
My main one if I hadn't met her at work there would be no chance of us talking like we do.
The other two I talk to one on a regular basis but we rarely see each other.
