The brake lights work fine when the headlights are off, however when you turn the headlights on the brake lights stay on, Why is this ? Thought it may be a short but I have checked the cluster and the wiring is in good nick with no corrosion. Could it be a relay, but i dont know where the relay box is, any ideas

check if you have fitted the correct bulbs,if you have fitted a double fillement bulb, power is being fed to the relay, via the bulb the fuse box is on the right hand side on the dash near the bonnet pull, also check if there is water ingress into the rear lights and check the earth points, the main earth is near the front n/s (nearside head lamp which is the passenger side). good luck mate.

Somehow the tailight wire got connected to the brake lights. It could be somebody messing up the wiring, bad sockets shorting the brake and tail light contacts together or the wrong bulbs.
