Adolf Hitler was a cruel man from Austria. He marched over to Germany with his Nazi soldiers in the late 1930's. The German people were going through a job crisis, and Hitler had an answer. He said that Jews were to blame. People believed him because they were so desperate for a solution. He began making laws that took the Jews' freedom away. Eventually, he and his Nazis began taking them to concentration camps, where they were given hardly anything to eat and were not kept warm. Disease spread like wildfire.
Many people died. Many tried to go into hiding. People were killed in gas chambers every day, their bodies simply dumped and buried in piles. Six million Jews and millions of others had died during this period known as the Holocaust. Eventually other countries defeated Hitler and the Nazis.
