After the expansion the paladin class has changed alot. If you spec into retribution as far as crusader strike which you should most of your damage is coming from your spell damage as does your seal/judgement damage. A holy paladin can main heal any 5 man outland instance with ease and a protection paladin can tank any instance in either world with no problems. Paladins used to do all 3 things just ok now depending on your gear and spec you can do any of those 3 very well.

Depends on how you play, and how you focus your character. Protection spec or retribution spec tends to be a little bit more of the fighting type - but a lot of their damage comes from spells, so they do more than just swing a sword. Holy spec tends to be more spell-casting - at least, in a group - but they're still capable of stepping up and throwing down with the melee types.

As hybrids, you really can't get past the fact that they're supposed to be doing both, you you can certainly pick a particular one to focus on.

They are a Hybrid class that is pretty much both.

They do a lot of their damage as melee fighters, but they also do a lot of healing, casting shields around themselves and they have spells which enhance the damage that their melee attack do.

They are a mix of a preist and a warrior a secondary healer but can tank to help warriors. They are a great variety class.
