So many people talk about this, and maybe it's just me, but sometimes I can't help feeling that republicans have a hard time opening their eyes.
I really don't mean to offend, I just am tired of hearing republicans say we need to stay in Iraq to prevent a future attack.. and I'm thinking "what?" ...Iraq never attacked us to begin with, and it's documented that hatred towards the U.S. has actually gone up dramatically in the middle east since we've been there. We're really not helping ourselves.

** Sorry, I should amend this a little - I don't think all republicans are ignorant. Many of my friends are republican. It just seems like the reeeeally far right ones are a little over the top.
I'm a recently graduated journalism major so I've spent a lot of time researching & rehashing all the political cr@p that's out there to try to get to the bottom of it of what both sides really think.
Many republican commentators & writers I've seen are just generally more gung-ho about the war without explaining their real reasons and I wanted to know what people thought about it. I'm glad I was able to spark discussion.
Oh, and I'm glad some of you had blonde commentary to give! Those were REALLY great comebacks. Good job. ;)

Yes, they refuse to research to find the truth. They believe when Bush lies by saying "they hate us for our freedom". What a huge crock of shiit! Below is a quote from osama bin laden:
"The presence of the USA Crusader military forces on land, sea and air of the states of the Islamic Gulf is the greatest danger threatening the largest oil reserve in the world. The existence of these forces in the area will provoke the people of the country and induces aggression on their religion, feelings and prides and push them to take up armed struggle against the invaders occupying the land. The spread of the fighting in the region will expose the oil wealth to the danger of being burned up."
This is a small excerpt from a statement in, believe it or not, 1996!! We built 8 military bases in Saudi Arabia in 1991, promising the king of Saudi Arabia that it was only temporary. It wasn't. The terrorists repeatedly warned Papa Bush, then Pres. Clinton, then little bush to close those bases, and to be more evenhanded in dealing with Israel's occupation of east jerusalem and other Palestinian lands.
All 3 presidents ignored the warnings.
When repubs say that there have been no more attacks since we attacked iraq, it's actually because little bush finally closed those bases!!! If he had closed them prior to 9/11 there would have been NO 9/11 ATTACKS!!
Closing the bases after the fact is an admission of guilt or weakness. Certainly we need those bases now more than we did prior to the iraq war. I'd like to think little bush closed them because its the right thing to do. too bad clinton or little bush didn't close them earlier.
we need to respect the arabs and their religious beliefs. their religion was founded at a time when european powers were constantly attacking the mideast, and not surprisingly, their religion demands of them that they drive out foriegn troops or 'crusaders' from arab land.
If we left iraq, the terrorists would be thankful and stop the attacks. they're not crazy. different, 'old fashioned', but not crazy.

See, you're calling people ignorant and you really have no idea of what's actually going on. How many of the people we are fighing in Iraq do you suppose are really Iraqi? How many of those who are Iraqi do you suppose are under the sway of the Shi'ites in Iran? The hatred of the US hasn't gone up because they've ALWAYS hated us because we worship the same God in a different manner. What part of that do you not understand? Do you think that, if we bail out of Iraq, the bad guys won't hold that up as an exapmple of how easy the Americans are defeated because we are a Nation of spineless cowards and there's no reason not to attack us on our own soil?
You saw that the Iranians just kidnapped British sailors. Do you not see the correlation between that act and what they did in Israel last summer by kidnapping the soldiers. That was the first war that Israel lost because they let the liberals have their way and they backed off. What a mistake, and the soldiers have not been released. They know that because of people who JUST DON'T GET IT, we are a house divided and too many of those on the left have no stomach for what it will take to defeat this mess so they HOPE to draw us into a war, KNOWING that people like you will take the heart right out of the Country and we will walk away from it, leaving ourselves open to more and more attacks, AND THEN THEY WIN!!! Are Republicans ignorant, or is it those who don't cherish our freedoms enough to defend them?
I'll tell you what I'd do if I was in charge. I'd force all of the Western insurance companies to STOP insuring gasoline shipments to Iran. That means that gasoline would stop flowing into Iran. They have no refining capability so they would have to impose strict rationing. Their economy is currently suffering a 50 to 60% inflation rate and an embargo would drive it to triple digits. How much of that do you suppose they'd endure before they put a bullet through Ahmadinijhad's head and release the sailors?
No, Republicans are not ignorant, and you do offend. Sorry.

Let’s not forget that every republican is not automatically pro-war. There are gray zones and shades. Just as they are for the democrats. War occurred not because republicans are in the White House. The reasons for war are multiple. We can speculate what they are and question why. But is it true that republican presidents are most likely to be war presidents? No. I don’t think anyone wants war just because. We are at the time where not only America but entire western civilization is in conflict with the Muslim world. We can only postpone a conflict or face the reality. Unfortunately having democratic or republican president will not change our policies on Middle East. What will change our future? Confrontation. Because I don’t think these people believe in reason and same qualities as we do. They believe in fear and force. Give them taste of their own medicine.

The only ones that are ignorant are the ones who act like Democrats. They Dems have systematically been destroying our country from within since 1992 by creating bigger government, social programs, nationalizing Healthcare, etc... The biggest problem I have seen the last 15 years is that the Dems have done absolutely nothing worthwhile to help our country. All of their programs are either horribly flawed or just foolish.
I am also NOT a staunch Bush supporter. In fact, I do NOT support him at all due to his inability / inaction to do something about our borders. Mexamericanada is a reality people. In less than 30 days, hundreds upon hundreds of Mexican Semi-Trucks will be allowed to haul freight within our borders without ANY of the safety regulations our Citizen drivers are required to go by. Our borders are what defines us as a nation. Without walls, a house cannot stand. Without borders, a Nation cannot stand.
One more thing. It isn't just the left or the right... It is both sides of congress that are the problem. Democrats and Republicans alike have stopped doing what they are supposed to have been voted into office for... To serve the interests of the American people. It is frustrating to see the wonderful Nation I grew up in has been deteriorating so quick that my 6yo son will never have the peaceful childhood I had.

Its not just republicans. Its anyone who buys foreign products. They say because they get better gas milage or are better designed they buy toyotas and hondas but they dont realize they are putting Americans out of work. Our Big 3 are broke. Our schools stink, our roads suffer its all trickle down theories. Some toyotas are built here in the US but 60% still come from Japan and all profit goes to Japan.People need to stop the republican/democrat **** and worry about who wants to and promises to help poor, unemployed, american companies and citizens 1st. Instead of helping immigrants/illegals.Quit all lobbying, quit all bashing of the other parties. Just get to the point as what you plan on doing to help the USA.

I'm not a Republican, and I'm tired of listening to both sides drone on and on, without actually getting off of their duffs to do anything about it, or to make the lives of our troops any better. I think that if the Republicans are ignorant, so are the Democrats. Mr Pot, meet Mrs Kettle...
Neither side EVER offers a valuable alternative. It's always the same old bull shite, over and over again. You can only do the same thing so many times before it stops being a logical or intelligent response. I've given time, money, and necessities to both our troops, and the people of Iraq, so spare me your partisan drivel.

I love Republicans! I think they are great. Republicans rep white collar. That my friend is what I am. Are you so naive to not understand the true motives for our occupancy in the middle east? I bet if you think hard enough you can figure it out. And what they say on t.v is just political smoke. Fluff to mislead you. It is a rather good tactic. See if the truth were told everyone would be running around in a state of panic. A lot of people can't handle the truth. We must be assertive, not lenient.

There is a lot we don't understand that goes on behind closed doors in politics.
If you dig deeper into the topic instead of making ignorant generalizations on information you heard at the water cooler, maybe you could understand the situation a little better.
Better yet, move to Iraq after we remove our troops and try to speak out about what you think is right and wrong.

Are ALL black people ignorant?
NO!
Are ALL white people corrupt, materialistic jerks?
NO!
Are ALL Christians hypocritical lunatics?
NO!
All of the above are questions that imply stereotypes
The fact of the matter is that there are good Republicans and there are bad ones and there are good Democrats (although few and far between) and bad ones.

No it is not all Republicans. With Bush's approval rating at 27% there has to be some Republicans who have awakened to see the light. The prince of the dark side does have his followers. They will always be there following in lockstep like good little lemmings. Democracy thrives on diversity including diversity of opinions. Totaltiarianism hates diversity.
