You cannot allow "public opinion" or "politicalization" to determine when a military objective is achieved. That is up to the military.

How long is too long? The question is unaswerable as stated.

I don't believe we should just quit though. Set a date and then leave. That wouldn't be success by any sane definition.

It hasn't been that long, yet. Following are some of the wars of history and their duration:

Revolutionary War - 1775-1782
Civil War - 1861-1865
War of 1812 - 1803-1815
World War I - 1914-1918
World War II - 1939-1945
100 Years War - 1328-1453

Nations can fight a long time, but I don't think the focus should be on how long a war lasts, but who will see it through to victory and who will quit.

If u . s . a . of america and that is allies ever have been given offended sufficient to start combating a real conflict.. properly seem up Dresden Germany and you gets my ingredient. I actually have a feeling you're a troll besides so i'm dropping my time.

Unfortunately, you don't understand the nature of this war. It has been going on for 1400 years already, and will go on at least that much longer. We may be able to get the Iraqis to the point such that they can deal with it; that does not mean that it will be over.

It is something that the political left has added a new addendum to our military and as a nation's national security.

"All military actions have expiration dates from the beginning...and we will let our enemy's know as soon as there is an election to win."

It is ridiculous to put a "too long" If it takes a week it takes a week if it has to be a struggle than you go the distance. Thanks god this new Left Culture did not exist in WW2, could you imagine...

oh don't worry about changing your mind. military complexes are being built in Iraq, there to facilitate and protect Big Oil's interests. there will be American troops in Iraq as long as there's oil in the Iraq ground.

gonna be in Afghanistan for a very long time too. gotta protect that pipeline and keep the natives in check.
