How about not picking up Woody Williams, he is only a marginal fantasy player as it is, you might want to look at Al Reyes or Adam Wainwright, Kei Igawa, Carl Pavano, John Patterson, John Maine or a variety of other pitchers. I just feel that Woody Williams will not add anything to your staff, and isn't El Duque hurt right now?

Hernandez is simply a bum!!! Who knows how old is really is, besides I don't think he can last a whole season without an injury. The Mets have a few young pitchers the want to try out this year . I can see the rotation after the all star break being 1. Martinez 2. Glavin 3. Perez 4. Maine 5. Heilman

Zack Duke I think still has some upside, and Padilla can stay in games good luck

If you're going to drop any of those guys to pick up John Maine, you've got to drop El Duque. He's far to injury prone to provide anything positive to your team.

You must keep Zach Duke, he has solid K numbers, puts up a respectable win total considering the poor run support he gets, and his ratio numbers are only considered low because of the defense behind him. Duke has tremendous upside, as do the folowing Pirates. Snell, Gorzalanny, Capps.

I'd hold on to Duke no matter what.
Padilla is a pitch and ditch guy at best.

Maine is pitching infront of a solid D and for a team with tremndous fire power.

Also you had better have a dynamite offense if this is your pitching staff, and your closers had better be top notch to make up for your high era and whip.

I'd drop Padilla, ever since he had some good years with the Phillies, he's sucked. I'd say he's the weakest link, though Zach Duke doesn't have a great team behind him. I'd still drop Padilla though.

Drop padilla and get maine who may be the breakout pitcher of the year he only gave up 1 hit in 7 innings last night to the world champion St. Louis Cardnals and could of gone longer if the bases were not loaded in the top of the eighth.

I'm a mets fan I know.

And here is the article from newsday

Mets' win a Maine event
Righty allows one hit in seven innings; Beltran blasts two HRs

ST. LOUIS -- The Mets really didn't need to take out John Maine after seven innings last night. But with no mercy rule in the majors, they took it upon themselves to spare the Cardinals any further embarrassment during this visit to Busch Stadium.

Maine allowed only Scott Rolen's leadoff single in the fifth inning, striking out six, and Carlos Beltran powered the offensive assault with a pair of home runs as the Mets rolled to a 10-0 victory and completed a three-game sweep of the Cardinals.

_top
This was payback whether the Mets chose to admit or not. They outscored the defending world champions, 20-2, and last night got ugly once St. Louis starter Braden Looper, the Mets' former closer, began to show signs of fatigue in the sixth inning.

Beltran snapped a scoreless tie with a two-run shot that inning, and went deep again in the seventh for the 18th multi-homer game of his career. Jose Reyes also homered in the seventh and the Mets scored five runs in the eighth, sparked by an outfield error when Preston Wilson misplayed Julio Franco's sinking liner.

The Mets also won their first three games of the 1994 season, but have not began a year 4-0 since reeling off five straight victories in 1985. The next obstacle awaits them in Atlanta, where the Mets open a three-game series tomorrow against the Braves. But if they play like they did in dispatching the Cardinals, the Mets will be difficult to slow down, never mind stop.

"We haven't lost a game yet, so I guess that's pretty good," manager Willie Randolph said. "If you had a blueprint, that's the way you'd like to do it."

The Mets turned seven double plays in their first two games, but Maine never really gave them a chance to pad that total. He still benefited from some stellar defense. In the second inning, Moises Alou, the 40-year-old leftfielder, sprinted a long way to catch Wilson's deep fly ball at the warning track. In the third, Beltran made a nice sliding grab in shallow center to rob Aaron Miles of a base hit.

That helped Maine stay perfect through four innings before Rolen began the fifth by slapping a 2-and-2 fastball up the middle. Maine walked Jim Edmonds, but retired the next three batters in order to end the threat. Dating to his Game 6 start in the NLCS, Maine has pitched 12 1/3 scoreless innings against the Cardinals.

"It's a good start," Maine said. "But already it's behind me."

Maine threw 97 pitches and felt like he could continue. Ambiorix Burgos pitched a perfect eighth inning and Aaron Sele lost the combined one-hit bid when Chris Duncan drilled a one-out double in the ninth.

And keep EL Duque. or try to trade him do no and I reapeat do not release him when other pitchers in your league go on the 15 day DL and are desperate for a pitcer they'll trade them a more upper tier ptcher for Orlando. Beleve me he's the #1 Pitcher right behind the upper tier. And you may end up getting in return from this desperate other person in your leaque for a guy like Jered Weaver.

Drop Vicente Padilla for whoever you end up picking up. You will heavily regret dropping the other two later on in the season, they are both very solid.

Padilla

Manie will play a lot better than him this year and Padilla is also a big risk for getting hurt this season. Hope that helps

Woody Williams should be on the free agent wire and stay there. I say look around for another alternative or just stick with what you have to start the season.
