I believe she said it was one of ideas not CULTURE. What she said was we don't know them nor understand them and have no interest in finding out. She said we (the US) cannot act like our way is the ONLY way.
I love that woman. I wish she was 20 years younger and could be in public life again.
Islam is a religion just like Christianity. We are not going to "destroy Islam" anymore than they are going to "destroy Christianity"...therefore it makes sense to try to understand each other. That can only happen through diplomacy and negotiation. It will never happen by using force. Trying to force "democracy" upon a nation that isn't interested will only lead to further conflict.
What most people don't realize is the President of Iran was VOTED in by the people of Iran. He is their chosen leader. We need to deal with him on a diplomatic level. Unfortunately, the screwball in the Oval Office doesn't have the skills, intelligence or desire. Nor does anyone in his cabinet have them.

The clash of Iran and the U.S. should be seen as a growing pain in the globalization process throughout humanity. It is certainly a clash of ideas as both nations have varying moral and legal ideologies regarding pretty much everything.
The Bush Doctrine is certainly not the approach that should be taken, in any situation - including past ones. Treating one as a potential enemy is the surest way or making them one, even if they were not before but counterintuitively, treating one as a potential friend is the surest way of making them one - even if they were not before.
I believe by giving Iran the benefit of the doubt in some sense (as their President has done to us on many occasions) is the best way to achieve a diplomatic solution.
Republicans and Democrats are both idiots - they are about extremes. Aristotle said virtue, is simply the mean between two extremes. When we are free of the conservative and liberal extreme ideologies we can meet in a compromised center - and from there attain virtue in our international relations.

There can be no diplomatic solution until we actually have dialog with them and stop ignoring them! A way to solve this nuclear "problem" is let the UN monitor a civilian nuclear facility in Iran so they can prove that they want nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. If they reject that, then yes, we have a problem and guess what? The world would be on our side for a change! Wouldn't that be nice?

Albright was a weak, useless Sec of State .
Her dealings with N Korea put them on a path of nuclear weaponry.
I found it interesting though, that when pressured she had to admit (although you could see it killed her to do so) that setting a time for troop withdral was a terrible idea.
This woman has an awful lot of nerve when you consider how powerful global terrorist networks grew right under her nose.
How about the embarrassments of Haiti and Somalia....the woman was a disaster.

JMHO, but I think Albright is correct. Except for a few high ranking individuals in both countries, I believe the majority of Iranian people to be just as civilized as the majority of the people in this country.

Who cares about a diplomatic solution? Madeline Albright is a lying, ugly liberal and that's all she'll ever be. She has no idea what she's talking about.
