My parents bought this model, and despite its low cost, it has given them lots of problems. Principally because its configured for American use and hard to change to English (UK) settings, plus they had trouble with connecting to the Internet.
Acer is PC World/Comet's own brand and although it has some good specifications I would advise you to pay more and get a decent one. With computers, you definately get what you pay for.
I recently got a Sony Vaio and it's the best laptop i've ever had - many people agree with this too, although it was twice as much as your Acer it was worth it.

Hi, we don't have that model but we do have 2 acers in the family, a basic 3692wlmi, which is fantastic for mine and my wife's needs and we have a 5612wlmi which is my sons machine which he uses for web design.

My sons is a dual core which is better spec than the one you are looking at but then yours has a 17" screen. It still has a very good spec does the 9301 and would be on my shopping list in the £500 bracket.

Have a think about the 5612 which is at currys.

Either way I can definately recommend Acer and as we are looking at another laptop for my daughter we will be looking for another Acer although I have seen a nice HP on ebuyer.

Hope this helps

PC World sold me a piece of garbage, never, ever buy a computer from them.

Also model numbers from manufacturers dont mean much in the PC market, look closely at the components inside before you buys. If a PC is cheap, theres a reason for it. They are usually loaded with poor quality generic brand parts.

First of all you have to think what you want it for, then see if it matches your needs. I'd say for everyday computing a Mac is better than a PC notebook, better build quality all round and a lot better looking. I however am a gamer and wont touch a mac for that reason alone.

Acer has poor quality and reliability. If you want a laptop with good reliability and performance, the your choices are limited, Apple and Lenovo are the top two vendors in the laptop marketplace.

Not sure about the pc, but one word of advise, never believe anything they say in pc world, my mate knows everything there is to know about pc's, he went in and asked what the best graphics card out at the moment is....they fobbed him off with something totally useless.......so just because they are a large organisation, doesn't mean they know everything.....beware

Forget PC notebooks, they're all junk compared to Apple's notebooks. Get yourself a nice MacBook or MacBook Pro. You won't regret it.
