I was playing ball in the backyard yesterday and the next door neighbor who is a pastor came over and we chatted some. Needless to say, women's periods came up and he said that anything they touch on their period becomes unclean since they are unclean. I figure that is probably something I don't want to be and I remember some ancient philosopher saying that a woman's touch on her period will kill flowers or something like that. He said something about women needing to be 'outside the camp' during that time. I'm like wondering how the heck I can know if a woman walking down the street or at work is on her period because I sure as heck don't think I should be shaking hands or whatever. In my mind when I see a woman in sweat pants I think she is on her period or having PMS, but I need to know if there is other ways I can tell without asking. Any advice?

Man, you need to mind your own business on the matter. As if a women doesn't have enough to deal with while she's dealing with being on her period, you want to make her deal with people not wanting to be near her too? Pastor of what kind of denomination? Church of the chauvinistic pigs? Sure doesn't sound like much of a Godly man to me. Does he not get the fact that God actually made women that way?

how old is your pastor? he is living deep deep deep in the old testament. Every woman is different so there's no way to know who's surfing the crimson wave and who isn't. To ease your fears about being unclean, that's just man's tendency to legislate behavior. If a woman on the rag could kill living things, we'd be used as weapons in guerilla warfare.

LOL that was funny. Other than asking and checking out girls in sweatpants I really don't know how you can tell. I think you will be fine though. A lot has changed since women were thrown to the "red tent" outside of camp, so most attitudes have changed. Good luck on your quest.

ellie, you are killing me with your masked bad words. you go girl! lol!

That is a reference to the law that was given to Moses. It applied to Jews (and still does if they follow the law- it was the responsibility of the woman to inform you- but that is not going to happen today (ha ha ha)
The Greek (NT) scriptures explain that the law covenant was done away with and replaced by the new covenant- in which there is no requirement to avoid menstruating women. You will be FINE!

Where the hell do you live? There must be a time warp to the 13th century, at least in your "pastor's" mind. Your pastor is probably one of the same bullsh!t artists that takes all your money so he can go to Thailand and f*ck little boys. And you must be a complete f*cking idiot to listen to anything the a$$hole says!!

You can't unless we tell you. This is so unfair, just because we are on our periods does not mean that we are dirty. Some women are but the majority of us know how to handle ourselves. What makes you think that everything we touch on our period becomes dirty? That is just really dumb and unreasonable thinking. What if you guys were the one who had periods and we said the same about you? Its just unfair.

Why do you want to know?
~I have touched many flowers and didnt kill them.
~ Period blood is STERIL. As long as the woman doesnt have an STD or yeast infection.
~You need to go have a chat with your mother

I gotta say that's retarded. A woman isn't unclean when she is on her period, she is just on her period! It's a bodily function for women and everyone gets it. To tell when they are on their period: they could have cramps, be irratable, sensative, mood swings. You know, acting weird.

Your neighbor is mentally disturbed. Women aren't "unclean" during their periods. Unless they don't wash their hands, but then they're unclean anytime of the month.

The pastor is an idiot. Quit talking to him. He doesnt know anything, from the sounds of it. You wont know, unless the woman tells you. That is such a crock of sh*t.
